All right.
It took a while and lots of flip-flopping, but the new blog is up: http://romankp.blogspot.com/
This immense block of time was mostly spent making tough decisions. Tough only because for the first time in my life what I want and need doesn't entirely line up with what I have and can afford. For the moment, my mantra is: Keep it simple, keep it cheap. So I'm sticking with Blogger and a humble "Starter" package over at InMotion Hosting, which have both served me well these past few years.
So. This blog is nearing its final bow. It's time for something fresh.
If you'd like to keep following my escapades, I'll be over at the new place.

The deal. Here it is:
In my current effort to reconstruct, I am working on a new internet presence.
First thing on the to-do list is a new blog.
This means that updates here (my old blog) will, unfortunately, peter out. But fear not. A link will be provided as soon as I manage to cobble something together.
On a side note; the "People Eaten Whole" series (with Little Red acting as the jump off point) is going well. I'll post the completed set on the new blog/site.
Incentive maybe?

I've been away.
I'm usually a little late to experience pop internet sensations (i.e. funny stuff that happens on Youtube).
Perhaps it's because I don't do Facebook (So I hear there's a new one now?) which seems to be the way these things get disseminated.
I don't know.

I don't know.
Anyway, this made me laugh a lot:

It's too cold for tourists now.
I want to frolic in its empty streets.
I hear a clicking noise between my ears.

Warning: Incoming Simile

Blindness.
I am trying something new.

Today I noticed this great disconnection between the way I think and feel while doing quick preliminaries and the way I think and feel while making the final piece. It's like night and day, really. This great spontaneity and fearlessness versus nit-picky, constrictive... just... blah. BLAH. I value the five second doodles in my notebooks more than what they eventually produce.
Compound that with a general dissatisfaction with my portfolio. It feels like I took a great deal of baggage straight out of Junior and Senior year of college and nothing complete has come of it. It's all just a bunch of fragments taken from here and there, held together by an institution that is not part of my life anymore. I need to start fresh!
I need to raze and rebuild!
Anyway. Pencil seems like a good first step as that is what I sketch with and sketching makes me happy. So why not? The piece up top is not one hundred percent what I want it to be but the ground work is there.
Now to figure out step two.
Some sage words during this time of inner turmoil would be much appreciated.
